There are various fees and bike tax in Nepal levied by the government for using your vehicle. This includes but not limited to blue book registration/renewal fee, vehicle registration fee, vehicle transfer fee and vehicle tax. Among them vehicle tax is more important and recurring one. You need to pay it every time before you renew your blue book. Apart from that, you also need to pay for at least third party insurance before you can renew your blue book.
We can see that provinces have basically classified bikes or scooters in terms of engine size/displacement (in CC) and levied the tax accordingly. Provinces like Province 1, Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpashchim has given full discount on electric vehicles as per the updates on 2077/78. Whereas, Bagmati province charges lower tax on electric vehicles based on battery capacity in watts as updated on 2078/79. Province 2 has provided 20% discount on electric vehicles as on 2077/78.
